Yacht Stabilizers FAQ
Yacht Stabilization has come along way. Yacht Stabilization is not about just roll control anymore. Sea Legs controls all yacht motion at anchor and underway. Yacht Stabilization under all operating conditions!
Just about every prospective stabilizer customer addressed some of the concerns related to Sea Legs Brand Yacht Stabilizers .
1. Can they strike the bottom in shallow water or grounding?
Unlikely. They are located above the propeller.
2. Could they break away if overstressed?
They are engineered to break apart if loading on the hull from a catastrophic collision is a factor.
3. Do they cause drag?
One of the unique features of Sea Legs is the highly-efficient low-drag design shape.
4. Will the vessel use more fuel to compensate for drag?
The high lift-to-drag ratio makes increased fuel use unlikely if sized for efficiency.
5. Can they cause propeller cavitation due to disturbed water flow ahead of the propellers?
No. Unlike fin stabilizers, they are mounted behind the propellers. They increase the efficiency of shaft tunnel designs especially.
6. Do they require the relocation of some vessel systems?
Since they are not mounted in the hull, moving internal equipment is rarely involved.
7. Is there space in the engine compartment to mount the large actuators?
This is not a problem with Sea Legs transom-mounted hydrofoils.
8. Do they weigh a lot?
Most units are made with light-weight composites. The actuators are usually lighter than conventional roll-fin stabilizers.
9. Is there potential for expensive repairs at haulout?
Sea Legs have been designed to provide years of service with minimal maintenance.

A: FAQ is an acronym for "frequently asked questions."
Q: Why should I include a FAQ page on my Web site? A: Including a FAQ page is a user-friendly way of presenting information to customers so they can quickly look it up. It also can help reduce the number of service calls and e-mails.
Q: What kind of questions should I place here? A: Make a list of the top 10 questions people ask you about your business, services, or products. That's a good start.
Q: What if I have more than 10 questions? A: Break the questions into sections by subject and give each section a subhead, such as Sales, Products, or Services.
Q: What should I NOT include on this page? A: You don't need to include information such as your company contact information, because it's easily found on the Contact Us page. You could, however, include a question such as: What is the quickest way to contact you?
Q: How should I format the text on the page? A: It's a good idea to use a different format, such as bold, for the questions, so that it is easy to distinguish them from the answers.
